Happy Blawg Anniversary!

It's hard to believe I've been blogging for a year.

The anniversary of my blog was actually September 4 ... But I missed it! I had no idea it had been so long that the fact I was approaching the milestone wasn't even on my radar. I realized I'd had my anniversary about a week later.

It kinda makes me feel old! Some blogs just don't make it. Or the bloggers themselves are unable to sustain. For me, I'm a mother with a growing child.

Over the past year, I've chronicled my adventure toward publication and shared my joys of success. I appreciate all who have taken the occasional moment to read my ramblings and offer encouragement.

This has indeed been an exciting journey.

To celebrate, I'm giving away a gift package of my 3 M/M releases!

They are:
The Outlaw
Available through Dreamspinner Press

One Way Trip
Available through Silver Publishing

AND

Tightend
Part of the TIGHT ENDS anthology
Available through Ravenous Romance
(only my short story from this anthology is included in this contest)

To have a chance to win, simply leave a comment to this anniversary post. I'll be choosing one random winner on Saturday, October 2!

Mahalo again to all my virtual friends and readers!!

Can Things Stay Professional for A Judge?
Calgary, Alberta-Can a judge resist a sexy defense attorney while presiding over one of the most important trials of her career? Find out on November 12th, 2010 when Breathless Press www.breathlesspress.com publishes Behind The Bench a 3K erotic contemporary romance by Rebecca Leigh. (R-Rated)
Blurb-
Judge Stephanie Marks is presiding over the trial of the century, and it's all she can do to resist the powerful and irresistible defense attorney, Clayton Jennings. She most definitely would love for him to approach her bench. But to touch him while he's appearing in her court would be most inappropriate…wouldn't it?
Will her fantasies alone be enough to get Stephanie through the proceedings, or will their desires consume them, forcing them both "out of order"?
Excerpt-
It was the trial of the century for a small Texas town, population less than 40,000. A man, with the body of a forty-five-year-old and the mind of a ten-year-old, accused of assaulting his lifelong caregiver. For Judge Stephanie Marks, it would be the defining case of her career.
And yet, as the weeks-long case came to a close, all she could think about was the ruggedly handsome defense attorney, Clayton Jennings, and what it would be like to sprawl him across her dark mahogany bench and fuck him.
Stephanie watched as Clayton's crisply ironed Caraceni slacks clung to his legs. With each step he took, the wool moved erotically over his well-toned thighs. He paced in front of the last witness, deftly peppering him with all the right questions. Stephanie stared at the charcoal stripe design, mesmerized by the way each line accentuated the curve of his cock, leaving just enough to her imagination. And her imagination had no problem filling in the blanks.

Tell All Tuesday!

Welcome to another edition of TELL ALL TUESDAY.  To kick off September, I’d like to introduce one of my fellow Ravenous Romance authors.  Louisa Bacio – who writes super hot erotic romance!

Tell us a little about yourself, Louisa.

My girlfriend, who is an art designer and also does a lot of work from home while juggling her family, and I were talking about this recently. Do people really want to know the real writer or would they prefer to imagine someone glamorous, all made up and fingers flying at the speed of light?

Hmmm … in addition to publishing more than 150 non-fiction magazine articles (in my other life) I also have appeared on several magazine covers. At one point, I worked interviewing bands, reviewing albums and covering live concerts. And yes, there are many stories there that could and could NOT be told!

Now that’s all true, but seriously, I’m passionate about my family, writing, education, cooking. Sephora is a guilty-pleasure.

How long have you been writing?

For as long as I can remember. After grad school in journalism, I worked full time in newspapers and magazines for a while, but now I freelance and focus more on my fiction writing.

Do you write exclusively erotic romance?

Life would probably be easier if I focused primarily on erotic romance. I’m a voracious reader, and likewise reader. I’m also working on some young adult (how much in contrast can one get?) and I write non-fiction for magazines.

What inspires your stories?

Usually there’s some type of “what if” that happens within life, or I see something that sparks an interest. When it comes to the paranormal, I’ve always been fascinated by what we don’t really know, or are not able to prove, particularly the existence of ghosts. Let’s be honest, you could simply say that I believe.

How do you choose a publisher?  Who are your current publishers?

With erotic romance, I’m with Ravenous Romance. Last year, I saw a few of their calls for anthology submissions. After being accepted to two anthologies – “Two’s Company” in I Kissed a Girl: A Virgin Lesbian Anthology and  “The Wait” in Rekindled Fire: An Anthology of Reunited Lovers.

I submitted a proposal for Physical Education, and it was accepted.

What is your latest release?

Ever one for continuing education … Sex University: Physical Education takes place in an unconventional school: one that ventures into the pleasures of the flesh (and mind, arguably). Amanda, the main character, enrolls for a little bit of exploration, and discovers more than she anticipated.

What is your writing process like?  How long does it take you to finish a story from beginning to end?

I am a writing hoarder. That sounds awful, I know. But as a copy editor, I have a horrific time with that internal editor and I like to read, and re-read, my work … until it’s absolute perfection. I’m trying to circumvent that inner voice though and learn how to let go.

Definitely, I’m not one of those book-a-month authors. That said, when Physical Education was accepted, I gave myself three months to turn in the manuscript and made the deadline.

Is writing your full-time job?  If not, how and when do you find time to write?

Definitely not. I teach college, edit for various publications, work part-time and also am a wife and mother to two young children. Finding time to write is always a challenge, especially when I’ve breed fellow night owls. Seriously, I tend to do a lot of my creative writing late and night, and editing during those key awake daytime hours.

How do you market your work?

In addition to guest blogs and interviews, I’m also teaching a few workshops. In October, I’ll be running a workshop on the Deconstruction of “The Short Second Life of Bree Tanner” by Stephenie Meyer, where we’ll breakdown her modern tragedy through SavvyAuthors.com. And early next year, I’m teaching a month-long course on “Writing the Erotic Romance.”

For a giveaway, see my offer below …

What do you love most about writing?

I love being in that creative world while writing, but also inspiring others. As a reader, I appreciate that loss of reality when I’m heavily into a new story or book, and hopefully, I do the same for my readers.

Who are some of your favorite authors and books?

I took at class at UCLA once and the professor asked this question. Every other student named off classics such as “The Great Gatsby” and “Fahrenheit 451.” I’m the only person who went modern with Stephen King and Anne Rice. I’m currently pouring through the House of Night series by P.C. Cast and Kristin Cast, and I enjoy a handful of historical novelists such as Tessa Dare and Kleypas.

If anyone is interested in seeing what I handed out at RWA Nationals, submit an email with a valid mailing address and I’ll send them my marketing card and a sample size of – ahem – personal lubricant.

Blurb for Sex University: PHYSICAL EDUCATION
Tired of boring sex and wanting to expand her pleasure, 24-year-old Amanda "Mandi" Wilkinson enrolls in summer school at San Francisco Sex University, an exclusive sex school located in the heart of San Francisco. What Mandi doesn't realize is that not all of the mysterious dropouts are simply flunking sex-ed.
Reed McAllister came to Sex U. for reasons all his own. Undercover, he's searching for a woman, the right woman, and so far he doesn't have any leads. Reed never saw himself working at a place such as SFSU, let alone instructing, but he had to admit it - the job did come with its perks. When Mandi turns up on the missing list, will Reed be able to save her and give her the lessons she so desires?
