Well, it's Sunday again and I'm trying to get used to setting this as the day I make new posts. So, keep any eye out on Sundays :)
This week I sent my revised manuscript for Have Stake, Will Travel back to my publisher and am now waiting to hear back on the next round of edits. In the meantime, I decided to spend my time writing. I have a couple works in progress (my lawyer for vamps and my F/F retelling of the Graduate Student), but neither have struck me with the inspiration bug lately.
But something else did! Remember my short story about the zombie slayer that falls for a zombie? I wrote it and submitted it for consideration in an anthology. It wasn't chosen.
Well, I have decided to go back to it. The title has now changed from Impossible Love to No Brainer. Instead of a zombie slayer, Grace is now a government worker who kills lower zombies for a living (the Romero type). For a new mission, she gets paired with Ethan, an upper zombie (not like Romero's zombies). The inspiration hit me hard for this one and I've been working on it for several days now and I'm already almost done with chapter 4! As long as new edits on HSWT don't interfere (because they take the number 1 slot), I hope to have an initial draft by the end of April :)
You may think that zombies aren't sexy . . . but you haven't read about Ethan yet!!

Knee Deep In Editing
I've been spending my week editing my novel. It must have taken over 5 days to eliminate a lot of really annoyingly overused words -- it, that, like, quiet, just, really. I'm not kidding! Rereading it now, the manuscript is so much better for it! I'm doing one last read through to make sure I don't have too much repetition and (because I really can't help myself) spicing up some of the sex scenes as I go along!
I've also been spending a lot of time social networking! I've met many wonderful fellow authors -- in particular my fellow Noble Romance Publishing authors. They are a fabulous group of people and so very supportive of one another.
Oh! I have a new banner and author byline. That's it up at the top of my blog -- Rebecca Leigh: Pleasures from Paradise. It's it da bomb! An extremely talented fellow author created it for me :)
I will be sending my manuscript back to my publisher early this week and can't wait to get my next round of edits.
I've also been working on a new short M/M short story about a couple super hot vampires that enjoy to role play. On this weeks agenda, playing cowboys!
Looks like I have another busy week in store for me, but I wouldn't have it any other way!!

Exciting Happenings!
So much has happened today, I am bursting at the seams with joy! I found out my projected release date for my first novel, Have Stake Will Travel, which will be published through Noble Romance Publishing. It should come out on May 24, 2010. I will keep you updated if the date changes. For now, happy dance!!!
I also started my first round of edits for the novel. The edits I am doing are considered "pre-edits" and mostly involve common manuscript errors. For example, overuse of the words "that" and "it." OMG, I use the word that, that, that, that way too much! Wow. But it is nevertheless an exciting time. I mean its edits on my novel that is going to be published . . . did I mention? On May 24?
In other news, the Tightends Anthology that includes my short story Tight Ends is currently ranked very high on amazon.com. Last time I checked, the kindle version was number 20 on amazon's gay/lesbian anthology list!! The anthology is also available in paperback on amazon. Yes, paperback!!!
There are indeed exciting things happening in the world of Rebecca Leigh!

Orgy
Today I had my first orgy.
I'm not sure I did it right.
It started out with a guy and five girls. Everything was going great -- getting hot and heavy. Then another guy came along. Guy 1 apparently preferred Guy 2 because the whole thing ended with their hook up. I mean, the girls were still there, wiggling their way as much as they could into the scene. But it was definitely all about the guys.
Hmmm.
It may not have been a good orgy, but it was good steamy sex!
Isn't that how any good orgy should end? Not sure.
By the way, it was all on paper. My two studs got together in a short-short I wrote for submission to a upcoming anthology. I hope the editor likes it :)

Orion and Julian are coming home!
I am so excited that today I signed and mailed a contract for the publication of my first full-length novel! Orion the vampire slayer and Julian, her vampire lover, have found a new home. I will post more details soon, but until then, please enjoy this blurb:
Orion Masters is a vampire slayer. But she’s not just any vampire slayer, she is a dhampir – half-human, half-vampire.
As a dhampir, Orion possesses the super-human power to detect, or sense, vampires. She uses this power to track vampires, dust them, and earn a little money along the way. But her life takes a dramatic u-turn on a small island in the middle of the Pacific Ocean. When Orion is hired by the Corporation to go to Bora Bora to dust a particularly heinous family of vampires, she finds more than she bargained for. The balmy nights of paradise hold a forbidden temptation, one that Orion is powerless to ignore. Hot, steamy sex with Julian Hunter.
Like Orion, Julian is a slayer. Unlike Orion, Julian is a pure blood. Chosen by the Vampire Council as a Guardian, Julian’s mission to Bora Bora is to kill the same family of vampires as Orion. Their paths cross on the hunt and Orion finds herself unable to control the allure of Julian’s seductive powers. Yielding to her body’s instinctive, and passionate, reaction to Julian, she discovers the erotic lure of heritage, shared blood, and destiny.
